A UX designer focuses on the overall experience users have when interacting with a digital product. Their role is to understand user needs, identify pain points, structure user journeys, and design solutions that make the product easier and more efficient to use.
A UI designer focuses on the interface itself. They work on visual consistency, screen layouts, components, typography, color systems, accessibility, and interaction details. Their role is to make the interface clear, usable, and aligned with the product or brand identity.
A UI UX designer combines both dimensions. This profile can work on research, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final interface design. In many RFPs, companies use the term UI UX designer when they need a versatile profile able to cover both user experience and interface design.
These roles are complementary. Depending on the project, a company may need a UX designer to clarify the experience, a UI designer to improve the interface, or a UI UX designer to support the full design process from discovery to delivery.
